Do you follow CMS school calendar?
We do not have school on CMS teacher workdays or days off. Our School Cancellation Policy is as follows:
In the event of inclement weather, we will follow the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) course of action for closing school. In the event that CMS chooses to use a two-hour delay, we will open as usual if it is safe to do so. If it is not safe, school will be canceled. There will be times when CMS is open but Twin Willows does not feel conditions at our facilities are safe to open. In the event we choose not to follow CMS, parents will be notified as well as employees.
Make-up Days:
There will be no makeup days due to inclement weather.
Do you offer field trips or other special programs throughout the year?
Yes! Your teachers will give you a comprehensive list of field trips that we have scheduled or in the process of scheduling monthly on the first day of school. Both our 2s class and our 3/4 class will have other enrichment programs including music, dance, art history, and science. The 3/4 class will have Spanish class daily.
What makes us different?
Being outside for at least 1/3 of the school day, we guide children to explore, learn from and interact with the natural environment and their peers. Children's physical, cognitive, and social development are supported as they gain a better understanding of nature and themselves. Furthermore, children have organic opportunities to explore, problem-solve, and engage their senses in the natural world. Our teachers also deeply value community connections and promote those connections with families and students.
What are your wellness protocols?
Here is our health/safety policy.
Does my child need to be potty trained?
All children in the combined 3 and 4-year class are expected to be fully potty trained. In the event of a child that is 3 or 4 and has a developmental or health delay please talk to the lead teachers prior to enrollment to make sure we have the tools to accommodate your child’s needs. Our two year old class does not need to be potty trained, however please note that our teachers will not potty train your child, but rather support you to the best of their abilities as you achieve this milestone.
