"Both of my children have had the opportunity to have Haley and Tirion as preschool teachers. While both of my children have very different personalities and strengths, they both demonstrated extreme growth during their time with Haley and Tirion as their teachers. Haley and Tirion focus on preschool learning through play. They ask their students various critical thinking questions throughout the year and record their answers in a notebook. Some questions are STEM based and focus on various experiments done throughout the year such as, “which ball will roll down the ramp faster.” Haley and Tirion then go and test the theory/question with the class. I contribute my son’s love for higher level critical thinking, science and building to the activities done through play in Haley and Tirion’s preschool classes. As a parent who is a firm believer in the benefits of outdoor play and learning and an avid follower of 1000 hours outside, I was very happy to have my children in a preschool class where the teachers had the same beliefs and values. Haley and Tirion make it a point to spend most of their preschool days outside, learning outside, free play outside, eating outside. I think it is very hard to find preschools in the area that have such a strong evidence based foundation of the benefits of outdoor learning and play for preschool children. As a parent with a child who is neurodivergent I found Haley and Tirion’s love and compassion, not just for my son, but for their entire class admirable. Both Haley and Tirion worked very closely with me to ensure my son was set up for success in their classroom, but also made sure not to make him feel “different.” Haley and Tirion were very open and proactive to providing various supports for my son in the classroom and went above and beyond in their communication regarding what was working for my son versus what was not. They truly went above and beyond for my son during the preschool years. As our children have grown older and have unfortunately aged out of the preschool years, my children and our family remain close with Haley and Tirion. Whenever I have questions related to either of my child’s development and/or “academic” skills I always reach out to them for advice as I know they keep up to date with the latest research for not only preschool children but younger elementary aged children as well. Haley and Tirion have a heart of gold and care very deeply about every child they have the opportunity to teach. Any family who is lucky enough to have Haley and Tirion as their children’s preschool teacher should truly feel as though they have won the best gift in the entire world. " - Mary F

As a former director, having dedicated teachers on staff is extremely important. The founders of Twin Willows Preschool, Haley and Tirion, are just that. They have been involved in bringing outdoor education to life in creative ways for many years. Under their care, children practiced and learned their pre-kindergarten skills through numerous sensory experiences outdoors, improving their physical, emotional, and mental health. I personally saw how Haley and Tirion's outdoor education curriculum helped to boost their student's confidence and self-esteem on a daily basis.
